Bath Update

Okay, So Putting the boys in the BIG bathtub, didn’t really work out. Preston was scared! He kept standing up , trying to get out and starting to kind of cry, so it didn’t quite work out, so he is back in the small blue tub. I think I may order what Mel said she got for her daughter. That blue tub is waay to small for Preston’s long legs. Chase did okay, but he started crying but I think that’s just because he was tired. Note, we haven’t tried it since then either. So they are still taking baths one at a time. Maybe in a month, begining of Dec, Preston won’t be scared anymore! LOL!

Other than that, they are doing great! Starting to walk along side of the couch and Chase is balancing himself for awhile by himself without anyones help, so that’s cool. Preston is trying to, but the Physical Therapist told us a while back that he has weak ankles, but they will get stronger more likely. So I am not worried, Yet..

Still not sleeping through the night consitently. I increased Preston’s milk to 8 ounces at night. He drinks it ALL! Usually keeps him sleep until 3am. YAY! Or 2. That’s better than 11:30 -12:30. Chase was sleeping good last week, but not this week. WHO KNOWS!! I just got to deal with it right? ANd quit complaining. It is what it is. They are so much fun. They laugh, talk , play , crawl, curious little babies and I see how this can be such a fun stage. They love watching Dora. Yea, I know they are boys, but I am a girl and I’d rather watch Dora the Explorer right now, if I have to watch a cartoon. They love it! They love the songs and everytime the Backpack song comes on, they totally stop what they are doing and jsut stare at the tv! Its’ awesome. Then I start singing the songs and dancing and they look at me. Sometimes they smile sometimes, they think I guess, that I look silly? I dunno! LOL! It’s fun. They love to go climb up the the changing table and pull down the basket of diapers and then eat the diapers. Preston figured out how to open the wipe warmer and pull out a wipe and put it in his mouth. I hope he like the taste! Preston also finds the bathroom tub fascinating. We have to continue to remember to keep the bathroom door shut! If not, he takes off full speed and preston is fast crawler, to the tub and stands up and beats on it with his hand. Very dangerous! I don’t want him to flip over into the tub! UGH! Sneaky boy. They like to play with the door stoppers. They flick it with their hands to hear the noise it makes! They push the kitchen table chairs in the kitchen which I don’t like b/c I am afraid they will fall and hit their heads on the tile. So we have to stop that. Preston pulls up to the oven, we have a low oven, the dishwasher, the Fridge, the wall. HE is constantly interested in the dog’s water and food bowl. He goes straight for it! So I started putting it on top of the table. Well we still have a glass round table, I know dangerous and he sees it and tries to reach on top of the glass table. I am so scared that glass is going to come up on top of him. I need a new table! Anyways, he is a mess. Chase is just as bad but doesn’t get into as much stuff as his brother, yet!

Its also cute when they crawl b/c they sort of chase each other and turn around a laugh at each other and take off again! Usually Preston is ahead of Chase and then stops and then starts crawling again. Its like he is looking to see if Chase is still chasing him! LOL! Okay, I kind of went off too much about them and I didn’t even mean too!

I am starting to realize that Chase just Doesn’t LIKE jar baby foods. He rather eat people food and its the total oppostite for Preston. So I am going to stop wasting my 85 cent Earth’s Best Jar food on Chase an just leave it for Preston. They are just so different.

Bad Night

Last night was another bad night. Wednesdays are the nights my husband works his 2nd job so we won’t be finacially strained than we already are and I am at home with my boys. The night went fine and all, its just a little more difficult trying to give them baths and feeding, but its WAAAAAYYYYY better than it use to be, so I am not complaining. What’s hard is that I just can’t get why they still wake up. I’ve mastered the not ROCKING Chase at night. He actually doesn’t even like rocking, I don’t think anymore, but anyways, so I turn the radio on and just lay him down on his tummy an he doesn’t make a noise. Preston, I rock, but I really need to start not doing that either. We do let him cry it out once at night if he wakes up between 2-4 am. But he still gets up at like 11:30-12:30 and I try to rock him without giving him a bottle but then he starts crying, so is he really hungry? or is he playing me just to get a bottle? One night, Preston finished his 5 oz bottle, saw Chase’s bottle, which had like 2 ounces left and grabbe his bottle an put it in his mouth? So I gave it to him and he finishe it! Is he really that hungry? Or greedy? I might try to give him 7 ounces for his last bottle tonight and see if he drinks it.

Back to sleep. How do I even go to sleep say at 10pm when Preston wakes up at 11:30 and then Chase at 12:30. Take it Chase did go to sleep at 7:30 last night. I think he is still stuck on the old time, but anyways. I am just exhauseted and not sure if my hubby got up any other times, but I think he did. Maybe tonight was just a bad night. THIS HAS TO STOP! Unfortunately we are going to be gone Saturday night and they won’t be home, so I don’t think I want to start NOT rocking Preston until we can do it consitantly for 7 days straight.

So I guess, what I am asking, at 10 Months, were you feeding your kids more than 5.5 to 6 oz every period? what’s wrong with my boys! Why can’t they sleep through the night like other kids!! WE totally suck as parents and obviously screwed up raisiing are kids ALREADY! We KNOW NOTHING!!!

Shame on their prices!! So I made a conscious effor to memorize the price of their big size 3 diapers from pampers and huggies. QTY, i think 96 or something like that. I also memorized the Huggies Wipes in the box, u know the refills. WEll… I went to Wal-Mart, the place I jsut can’t stand(they actually remodeled one close to me, so I went to that one instead of the GHETTO Dirty one the other direction) and I was shocke on the price difference. WHy or Why, was I getting wipes and diapers from there with coupons! Stupid me right? I am sucking it up and going to Wal-Mart for Diapers, Wipes, Baby Destin, for just about everything! Get this.
Babies R us Diapers $40.99 or was it $38.99, Wal-Mart $24.97! WTF?!!!
Babies R us Wipes $12.99(Huggies) Same brand at Wal-Mart $9.58.
Gerber 2nd Foods in Jars, 44cents, Babies r us? .87cents!! What was I doing, throwing my money away these last 10 months! Its the same stuff!!!

Funny thing is, Ready to feed Similac formula is cheaper at BB R us than any other place we have found, so we still have to go there. Anyways, there is my eye opening experience this past weekend. Wal_mart, you are getting better with your remodeled stores, but gosh, I still don’t like the way yal look compared to Target or others, but I WILL SHOP For baby stuff there! I don’t trush their meat though. I will stick with Kroger or Tom Thumb. Is that snoodY? LOL!

25 more days until we start them on semi whole milk with formula. Gosh can’t wait! I am going to start trying to potty train as soon as they start walking!

….You are any of the people wondering these things out loud in public…Yes, they are mine. Nope, I’m not crazy. Not yet anyway. Yes they’re twins. I have noticed they look alike. Yup, both are boys last time I checked. I am fully aware that I have my hands full, thank you for pointing that out with that look of utter disgust on your face. Yes, I know how babies are made. And yes, I do have other hobbies. Please don’t ask me about fertility drugs, as if that is any of your business anyway. I’m glad that they aren’t yours also. Just in case you were wondering.

Sorry, I’ve been away for so long. I am having a little more trouble than I thought I would finding time to write. Job has been busy and home life has been also. Update. Preston and Chase can now crawl alot, They both pull up and now Chase stands up by himself and balances himself for a while. Its neat. Preston has balanced himself yet. We recently took them to the Dallas Aboretum and here are some photos.

Room Decor

We just recently rearranged our family room so we could mount are tv over the fireplace which I’ve been wanting to do since we moved in 3 years ago, but I guess it takes having babies or a baby to finally do it! Preston and Chase kept pulling up on the entertainment stand and I was just so scared the tv was going to crash on them, so we got some people to mount it for us. Well since we turned our sectional around it leaves this off white bare wall and its looks SO BAD!! So yesterday before I got home, I stopped by the new Kirklands by my house and of course they were having this great sale on pictures, I kind of bought some. I got 4 pictures, one was like a frame type that had like 6 4×6′s picture places to add photos of our family, so I thought that was cute. It was only 19.99 and I thin its like 24×24. I’m not sure though. Now the hard part is trying to actually hang them myself. My husband doesn’t do this so usually I get my father to come down and hang up things in my house, pictures, curtians, etc. I decided I can’t be relyign on him all the time for this b/c he lives to far for this. So I asked him how he does and where he gets the stuff from, so I’ll try to do this on Friday when I am working from home. Just need to pick up some things for The Home Depot. I will show pics when finsihed. I still need a huge painting to cover this wall in my entry area, that I’ve been wanting to get, Again for the last 3 years, but never have. Not sure what I want it to look like though.

My next challenge is to have my sister teach me how to hang curtain rods because I am in need to figure out how to do this too b/c I already want to change my curtains in my bedroom. they dont’ match my comforter and it looks so bad. I try to keep my door close when we have company which is rare these days. With twins, no one wants to come hang out at the house with us. Oh well. Unless it was a play date. Which I would love to do more of, but everyone including me is so busy.

Ive made a list of things to get done eitehr around the house or to purchase. One is the boys are in DESPERATE need of another dresser. I dont’ have time to hang up all those close so I’d rather fold them and put them in drawers. Another is buy new car seats. Still looking into that. Get a screen door/glass. I’ve always wanted one. Husband doens’t think thats a priority, but I think it is!! Since we only have 1 window facing the street, it would be nice to have our door open to look out too! I know the boys will love it and probably one right into it the first time!! LOL! Our goes back vertically, rather than horizontally. Anyways. So things like that.

I still like the new daycare. They actually offer “Parent’s Night Out” every month on a friday from 6:30-10:30pm. It will be only $40 for the whole night which would be cheaper than a sitter. Well jsut a little bit actually. If we pay $12/hr it comes out to $48 and they would be at the house, but incase we couldn’t find anyone it woudl work out. Now we can actually catch a movie and maybe even dinner sometimes. How nice. The month of December they are doing Parents DAY out on a saturday from 9am -1pm. We could go shopping for the boys or just do something around the house. Not sure of the date yet. Chase seems to have some kind of sinus cold stuff now. He has a cough and snotty nose. He had already started showing signs of this before they started daycare this week, so I think he caught something last week or over the weekend. I love watchign the boys on camera. Such a nice piece of mind. Then I will call and see her go to the phone and answer , so cool.

Hopefully Chase will be well enough for us to still do the State Fair Saturday. Gosh it never fails for our plans to be canceled b/c of sick babies. As long as he doesn’t run a fever, i think we’ll be fine. We will have hats on the boys!

I’m still tryingn to decide what costume the boys should wear for Halloween! Why is this so hard? I don’t know> I might just give in and make them pumpkins!! LOL! I’ll try to look this weekend at some more places. I do have Halloween bibs!!

Welcome to Motherhood!

My mind has been stolen.

I still have my brain, but it isn’t functioning quite the same. I am pretty sure my mind is floating around out there somewhere. The one that graduated from undergrad and got my masters?

I recently read (or maybe it was a while ago…again, my mind is missing. It could have been years ago, really.) that everyone talks about how your mind goes to mush when you are pregnant, and you get pregnancy brain. And what they don’t tell you is that YOU NEVER GET YOUR MIND BACK.
IT’S TRUE.

Sometimes I wander into a room and forget why I came in there. Oh wait, it gets better. After a couple of dumbfounded minutes, I give up and go back to what I was doing. Then I will remember and go back into the other room, only to realize…I have forgotten again. After about the third time, I give up. Sometimes I am determined, and I will let it go to 6 times. True story.

So I am pretty sure that when my babies popped out, my mind popped out with him and rolled under the hospital bed.
And you know what went with it? THE ABILITY TO RELAX.

Even when I am in the house by myself, I can’t relax. I try to catch up on some DVRed shows (because I can never watch shows when they are airing. DVR was invented by a mother. I am sure of it.), and I can’t focus on them because I am thinking about 10 million other things that I should be doing instead of watched the DVRed shows. Every time I close my eyes at night, I see things I should be doing. If I wasn’t so exhausted, I would probably haul myself out of bed to do them. Really.

I must need to try some meditation classes or yog or SOMETHING. I need to learn to shut this busy mind off and escape somewhere where I don’t hear imaginary baby cries and where I can cut out of work a few hours early without having to recrunch our budget in my head to see if I can actually afford to do so without forcing my husband and babies to eat ramen noodles for dinner.
How do I know this?

Um…because I am a mother.

So fellow mommies, ANYONE. HOW DO YOU RELAX?

Sleep.. What is sleep?

Where did my good night sleep go? Oh yea, my twins took it when they were born December 23, 2008. Will I ever get good night sleep again? People say maybe when they graduate college, but even then, i will think and worry about them at night.

My good sleep I had to give up to have kids? So unfair, but who said life was fair? Chase and Preston are 9 months and still taking sleep from us. They wake up atleast twice a night and we are feeding them thinking that’s what they want. I don’t think they are hungry, I think they are just waking up. I tried to let Preston cry it out last night for 30 minutes and he just wouldn’t stop. So I gave in and rocked him and gave him a bottle. He was sleep in my arms and as soon as I put him down he sat right back up and was up! So ridiculous. I wish I had sleep trained them by 4 months after I read Baby Wise/Whisperer, but there was always an excuse to try next week and then next week and then it was 6 months and then other excuses, etc.. Now they are 9 months and we can’t function during the day b/c of lack of sleep.

I think I’ll have to go back and put cereal in their bottles at night. They eat solids 3 times a day and take 5 ounces of formula each time. Maybe I should give them 6 to 7 ounces. I don’t know. Every baby is different. I am angry when people brag about how they got their baby sleeping throug the night by 12 weeks, 16, 20 etc. They are a 40 weeks/9 months and we have to be the stupidist parents out there. We have twins too and if anything they should be sleeping through the night. As you can see I am very frustrated and wanted to get it out through my blog. i love my boys, but I really want my sleep back. Is that selfish? Maybe, but they shouldn’t control our lives, we should control theirs. Maybve we are weak parents and I admit I didn’t like to hear them cry when they were so young, but sometimes I like being cruel and hearing Preston cry because I KNOW there is nothing wrong with him, but my soft side comes in and I give in and pick him up b/c I need sleep and NEED to function the next day at work.

It’s September 29th and I WON’T MY SLEEP BACK!!!!!!!! Starting this Thursday, to next Thursday, they will be trained and NO GIVING IN!!!!! They will never remember how long they cried, they can NEVER be mad at me for that. SO HA!!

I am the parent! I AM IN CONTROL!!!!!

Chase and Preston Happy Birthday!!

You’ve accoplished so much!! And your mom and dad have survived!! I really can’t believe it!

Preston is :

-Pulling up to a standing position -Crawling, fast -Eating solids easily(yogurt too and puffs)

-Babbling all the time

-Learning how to use the different toys(ex: putting the basketball in the hoop and putting the cars on top of the track and letting it slide down.

-Has 2 teeth, but I can see the top 2 coming down up top

YAY! Is the greatest baby ever!

Chase is:

-pulling up to a standing position in the crib, but no where else yet.

-Not crawling, but trying to. He’s taken a few knee steps! -eating solids, but not food, just cereal. He just cries and fusses. We don’t get it.

-Learning how to use the different toys(ex: putting the basketball in the hoop and putting the cars on top of the track and letting it slide down.

-Making lots of noise and babbling. He has a big voice compared to Prestons

-Has 2 teeth and still slobbers all the time.

Is the greatest baby ever!

Dr. appt with Shots tomorrow. Fun Fun! Last day of daycare is Friday then no more. Nanny starts on Monday. YAY!
